About Rivers State University

Rivers State University was established in 1980 but has a history expanding from 1972. The University is the first state owned university in the delta region of Nigeria and functions with the motto of “Excellence and Creativity”. This philosophy of the university bleeds into its staff of 1,870 and the student population of 29,939 to produce eminent researchers, scholars and above all great humans. With over 37 programs at the undergraduate level and 86 at the postgraduate level, the University has a strong footprint in the disciplines of Agriculture, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Law, Management Sciences, Science and Technical and Science Education. Research and educational advancement are held at a high regard by both the University management and the students.
