Guest Editor Guidelines

Guest Editors help shape a focused Special Issue by defining scope, inviting high-quality contributions, and supporting a fair peer-review process alongside the JBRES editorial office.

Guest Editor • Special Issue Leadership • Evidence First

Lead a Special Issue that Attracts the Right Research Community

JBRES welcomes Guest Editors who can curate a focused theme, mobilize an author network, and support a rigorous, ethical, and transparent editorial process. Our goal is simple: publish valuable research with clear relevance and strong readability.

🎯Primary role

Define a clear scope and ensure submissions align with the Special Issue theme and JBRES standards.

  • Refine title + scope + keywords (clear and searchable)
  • Recommend expert reviewers (no conflicts of interest)
  • Support editorial decisions with objective, evidence-based reasoning

🧾Quality & ethics

JBRES follows ethical publishing practices. Guest Editors must treat authors fairly and maintain confidentiality.

  • Confidential handling of manuscripts and reviews
  • Declare conflicts of interest (COI) when applicable
  • Recommend desk-reject when out-of-scope or methodologically weak
  • Encourage transparent reporting and citations integrity

⏱️Timelines & coordination

Special Issues work best with predictable timelines. The Editorial Office will support you with communication templates and tracking.

  • Recommend reviewers promptly (within 3–5 days)
  • Support review turnaround targets (commonly 7–14 days)
  • Help authors address reviewer comments effectively

📣Outreach (optional, helpful)

Outreach improves Special Issue performance. Guest Editors can invite trusted colleagues and research groups to submit.

  • Share the Special Issue page in your networks
  • Invite relevant authors (targeted, respectful, non-spam)
  • Propose a short “Focus Topics” list for conversion
Good to know: Guest Editors do not handle payments. Editorial decisions must remain independent and based only on scientific quality and fit.
