Biography

Grew up in upstate New York and graduated (1979) from State University of New York of Environmental Science and Forestry, Syracuse, NY. While working to obtain my bachelors degree in Forest biology I became extremely interested in Pharmacology. Obtained a Master’s degree (1982) at Idaho State University, Pocatello, ID in Pharmacology and then went on to get a PhD (1986) in Pharmacology (specialty Neuropharmacology) at Oregon State University, Corvallis, OR. Moved to University of Washington, Seattle, WA for a postdoctoral position and then moved into different faculty positions over the years. I have been primarily at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System, Seattle, WA over the last 20 years as a Research Scientist in the department of Mental Illness Research, Education and Clinical Center (MIRECC), and for the last 4+ years have been the Chair of the Research Safety Subcommittee of Research and Development
