Umbilical cord is the tube that connects mother to baby during pregnancy. It is the source of food and oxygen from the placenta to the baby and also carries waste from the baby back to the placenta. Any abnormalities in the umbilical cord affects both babies and mothers. The major breakthrough in the medical field related to umbilical cord is the storage of cord blood that has clinical theory of treating even genetic disorders owing to the primitive, undifferentiated stem cells in the cord blood.

Current Research Study of umbilical cord is mainly focused on the cord blood and how it can be used in treating many diseases and disorders with currently no available cure. Journal of Biomedical Research & Environmental Sciences consists of scientific data and content on umbilical cord that is used by researchers, scientists and medical practitioners to discover the science core of this organ and its impact on the human evolution.
