The specialization of medicine dealing with the musculoskeletal system that includes your bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, and nerves that are responsible for movement. Orthopedics also focuses on the treatment of any abnormalities to the musculoskeletal system occurring from birth or due to any injury or age related factors. The most common conditions that are studied in this branch consist of joint pain from arthritis, bone fractures, soft tissue injuries, back pain, neck and shoulder pain such as bursitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, overuse and sports injuries, including tendinitis, meniscus tears, and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears, congenital conditions, such as clubfoot and scoliosis.

There are different forms of physical therapies as well as surgeries available as treatment plans to any issue related to orthopedics. Recent orthopedic discoveries are aimed at improving the treatment methods by mitigating the risks associated with existing procedures as well as better understanding one of the basic human systems.
