Portal vein is the vein that carries blood from the digestive system to the liver and the increase in pressure in this vein is known as portal hypertension. This condition may be a consequence of cirrhosis of the liver which is the most probable case, but thrombosis (clotting) might also be the cause. There are no known distinguishable symptoms that might help identify this condition but the chance of developing portal hypertension is high in patients suffering with a liver disease that might lead to cirrhosis.
Journal of Biomedical Research & Environmental Sciences
records and holds open science data on portal hypertension which is referenced to by scientists, medical care professionals, researchers, professors and students for better understanding of this medical condition. These journals by providing unrestricted access to their scientific content helps in developing new techniques and technology to identify and cure such complicated medical conditions.
