Eduardo Domínguez-Adame Lanuza studied for a degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Seville, 1983-89. He was a Resident Physician by competitive examination in the specialty of General and Digestive Surgery at the Virgen del Rocío University Hospital in Seville (1991-95), obtaining the title of Specialist Physician in General and Digestive Surgery. He holds a PhD from the University of Seville with a grade of Outstanding Cum Laude by unanimous vote (2009). In his medical career, he has held a position as Area Specialist Physician, in chronological order, at the Virgen Macarena University Hospital in Seville, the Merced Hospital in Osuna (Seville), the General Hospital of Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz) and the Virgen Macarena University Hospital in Seville. Since 2005 he has held the position of Statutory Area Specialist Doctor at the Virgen Macarena University Hospital through a national competitive examination. In the field of healthcare management, he has been Coordinator of the Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery Unit of the General Surgery and Digestive System Service at the Hospital of Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz). At this hospital he has been a member of the Hospital Ethics and Research Committee. Since 2008 he has been Head of Section through a competitive examination at the Virgen Macarena University Hospital in Seville. He is responsible for the Esophagogastric, Metabolic and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery Unit of the General Surgery and Digestive System Service at the Virgen Macarena University Hospital. He is a member of various Hospital Clinical Commissions (Ethics and Research, Bariatric, Mortality and Autopsies, Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Esophageal-Gastric Tumors) of the Virgen Macarena University Hospital in Seville. He has been a member of the evaluation committee for intermediate management positions in the Andalusian Health Service. His administrative, teaching, clinical and care management in the Esophageal-Gastric, Metabolic and Advanced Laparoscopy Surgery Unit has been consecutively evaluated as excellent by the Quality Subdirectorate of the Management of the Virgen Macarena University Hospital in Seville. From the hospital teaching point of view, he has been a Tutor of Residents in the Specialty of General Surgery and the Digestive System at the Virgen Macarena University Hospital in Seville. He has been an Honorary Collaborating Professor of the Department of Surgery at the University of Seville from 1991 to 1996. Since 2007 he has been a Clinical Associate Professor (ACIS), by competitive examination, of the Department of Surgery at the University of Seville, teaching uninterruptedly at the Centers; Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Seville. He is currently Associate Professor of the Department of Surgery at the University of Seville, competitive examination prior to accreditation, since April 24, 2024. He has been Coordinator in Charge of the Optional Subject Morbid Obesity. Director of multiple Advanced Studies Diplomas (DEAs), Tutor of Master's Final Projects and Final Degree Projects at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Seville. His teaching activity has been positively evaluated by both students and the University of Seville. To date, Director of 7 Doctoral Theses, 4 pending defense and reading. He has carried out stays in National and Foreign Centers, highlighting those carried out at the St. Mark's Hospital (Prof. RJ Nicholls) in London in the United Kingdom, whose objective has been the improvement in diagnostic-therapeutic techniques in coloproctological surgery, with the obtaining of a Certificate in Coloproctology (St. Mark's Hospital, London University), as well as the one carried out at the Regional University Hospital Center of Montpellier - Hôpital Saint Eloi (Prof. JM Fabre, University of Montpellier) in France, whose objective has been the improvement in diagnostic-therapeutic, laparoscopic and thoracoscopic surgical techniques in esophageal-gastric care processes. Director of National and International Surgery Courses carried out jointly by the University of Seville (Department of Surgery) and the Andalusian Health Service, which have been accredited by Scientific Societies (Andalusian Association of Surgeons, Spanish Association of Surgeons, Spanish Society of Bariatric Surgery and Associated Metabolic Diseases, among others) and by the Health Quality Agency of Andalusia (ACSA). He has been General Director of Teaching and Academic Training of the Royal and Illustrious College of Physicians of Seville, and is a Member of the Committee of Scientific Experts of said Institution. He is a Corresponding Academician of the Royal Academy of Medicine and Surgery of Seville and an elected member of the Board of Trustees of its Foundation. He has published 184 articles in national and international journals. Reviewer for the Spanish Journal of Surgery, the Spanish Journal of Digestive Diseases, the Andalusian Journal of Digestive Pathology, the Andalusian Surgery Journal, the Ibero-American Bariatric & Metabolic Journal, the Annals of Mediterranean Surgery and the Spanish Journal of Public Health.
