  1. Choon Fu Goh

    Universiti Sains Malaysia

    Malaysia

Choon Fu graduated with a B. Pharm. (First Class Honours) from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 2010 and completed his pre-registration training at Sibu Hospital, Sarawak (2011-2012). In 2012, he was offered the chance to study abroad for a PhD at the School of Pharmacy, University College London (UCL) under the academic training scheme by USM. His PhD project focused on the investigation of drug crystallisation in the stratum corneum of the skin. During his PhD studies, he held a visiting scientist post at Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Monash University for a collaboration work using synchrotron-based X-ray diffraction techniques. Immediately after finishing his PhD, he was appointed as a senior lecturer in Pharmaceutical Technology in the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, USM started in April 2016. He is now leading the research in mucosal and topical/transdermal drug delivery in the current university.

  6. Turhanen Petri Antero

    UEF School of Pharmacy

    Finland

Dr. Petri Turhanen, Ph.D, is university researcher at University of Eastern Finland (UEF),
School of Pharmacy. He received M.Sc. in organic chemistry at University of Jyväskylä in
1997 and Ph.D. in synthetic organic and medicinal chemistry at University of Kuopio in 2003.
Dr. Turhanen has authored more than 50 publications and conference presentations being a
main author in most of them, he also has 2 patents and 2 patent applications.
His scientific interests are focused on synthetic organic chemistry with green chemistry aspect
and synthesis of different kind of bisphosphonates (BPs) and their derivatives, also synthesis
of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) analogs are with great interest. BPs are highly important class
of drugs used in many applications in medicinal chemistry field like for the treatment of bone
disorders like Paget´s disease and osteoporosis; besides BPs can be used in many other
applications such as purification of metal contaminated water. Dr. Turhanen´s lab has ability
to synthesize many different kind of BPs, as some to mention: etidronate, pamidronate,
clodronate, alendronate, zoledronate, risedronate, tiludronate, incadronate etc.
ATP analogs are also with great interest because of their biological effects and possible
applications in medicinal field, however they are difficult to prepare because of quite unstable
structure (two -P-O-P- bonds). Dr. Turhanen has also experience of purification of prepared
ATP analogs by high performance counter current chromatography (HPCCC), which is not a
common method in synthetic chemistry. See more: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/PetriTurhanen
