  1. Gopal N Gupta

    "Dr. Gupta received his B.S. (Biological Chemistry) from the University of Chicago in 1996. He received his M.D. from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2002. He then performed his residency in urologic surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center (2002-2008). He continued his training as a fellow in Urologic Oncology at the National Cancer Institute (NIH) in the Urologic Oncology Branch under the guidance of Dr. W. Marston Linehan (2008-2011). In 2011 he was recruited to the Department of Urology by Dr. Robert Flanigan as a fellowship trained urologic oncologist. Dr. Gupta holds a primary appointment in the Department of Urology, and has a joint appointment in the Department of Surgery, Radiology and the Oncology Institute at the Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center.
    His primary clinical research interests pertain to bladder, kidney and prostate cancer. Dr. Gupta performs minimally invasive surgeries using the DaVinci Robotic Surgery platform. His clinical interests are to push the cutting edge of technology while optimizing cancer outcomes. He has published extensively about varied topics in gentiourinary oncology including: MRI/TRUS fusion ultrasound guided prostate biopsy, Active Surveillance for prostate cancer, optimizing renal functional outcomes for partial nephrectomy, improving surgical decision making in prostate cancer surgery using MRI, health services related research aimed at addressing disparities in care delivery in genitourinary oncology.
    Dr. Gupta’s laboratory is located in the oncology institute. He has been named a Dean’s Office Clinical Scholar and splits his time between his clinical responsibilities and his research interests. His laboratory is active in: 1) creating pre-clinical models in bladder and kidney cancer to assess the effects of emerging targeted therapies, 2) understanding the role of cancer shed exosomes as biomarkers, their role in progression of cancer and EMT, 3) the role of hypoxia signaling in renal and bladder malignancy."

  2.  Yuanyuan Zhang

    Dr. Yuanyuan Zhang is a director of tissue therapy and assistant professor in the Wake Forest Institute for Regeneration Medicine (WFIRM) and department of urology at the University of Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He received his M.D. from Jiangxi Medical Collage in China, earned his spot as attending urologist in department of urology at the First Affiliated Hospital in Nanchang University. Dr. Zhang completed his PhD training program in University of Lausanne in Switzerland. After postdoc training, he became a faculty member in department of urology at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center and then at Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine, a premier environment for research in stem cell therapy and tissue engineering in genitourinary surgery.

    "Dr Kamran Zargar-Shoshtari graduated from the University of Otago in New Zealand. Following his internship he conducted full time clinical research, focusing on strategies to improve care following major abdominal surgery. Dr Zargar-Shoshtari completed urological training in New Zealand and Australia and was awarded Fellowship of Royal Australasian college of Surgeons (FRACS). Following this he received further training in genitourinary oncology at Moffitt cancer center, in Tampa, Florida.

    His research interests include various aspects of urologic oncology in particular treatment of bladder and penile cancer.

    "Matthew Rutman, M.D., is the Director of Voiding Dysfunction, Incontinence and Urodynamic Center at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. He is an Associate Professor of Clinical Urology at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He graduated with honors from Emory University and The Chicago Medical School. After completing his residency at William Beaumont Hospital, Dr. Rutman completed a fellowship in female urology, voiding dysfunction, neurourology and urodynamics under world renowned Shlomo Raz, M.D at the UCLA Medical Center.
    Dr. Rutman is board-certified in urology and female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery (FPMRS). His practice is limited to male and female voiding dysfunctions including urinary retention, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), interstitial cystitis, prostatitis, urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, neurogenic bladder, urinary tract infections, and reconstructive female urology surgery for vaginal prolapse, urethral diverticulum and vesico-vaginal fistulae. He has authored over 40 book chapters and publications in leading journals and urology textbooks. His clinical and research interests are in male and female incontinence, vaginal prolapse, voiding dysfunction, urodynamics and surgical outcomes.
