What Can Delay the Process?
- Reviewer unavailability — finding qualified, available reviewers can take time, especially for highly specialized manuscripts
- Late reviewer submissions — we send reminders but cannot force reviewers to submit on time
- Incomplete submissions — missing files or ethics statements delay the initial check
- Major revisions — complex revisions naturally extend the timeline
- Author delay in submitting revisions — authors are given up to 30–60 days; using the full time extends the overall timeline
