Become a Reviewer

Join our global network of expert reviewers and help shape the future of biomedical and environmental research.

Why Volunteer as a Reviewer?

Peer review is the foundation of scientific integrity. As a JBRES reviewer you gain early access to cutting-edge research, earn recognition, and receive tangible benefits including APC waivers and annual certificates.

Who Can Apply?

We welcome volunteer reviewers who meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a PhD, MD, or equivalent doctoral qualification in a relevant field
  • Have at least 2 peer-reviewed publications in the last 5 years
  • Have active research or clinical experience in biomedical, environmental, or related sciences
  • Can commit to completing reviews within a 14-day window when invited
  • Are not currently employed by or affiliated with JBRES or SciRes Literature LLC.

Benefits of Reviewing for JBRES

  • Annual Reviewer Certificate

All reviewers who complete 2 or more reviews per year receive an official JBRES Reviewer Certificate — recognized by institutions and included on CVs.

  • APC Waiver Credits

Earn APC waiver credits for your own submissions. 3 completed, high-quality reviews = 1 free JBRES article submission (full APC waiver).

  • Reviewer Recognition Page

Active reviewers are listed on our annual Reviewer Appreciation page, acknowledged publicly for their contribution to science.

  • Early Access to Research

Read new research in your field before it is publicly available — a significant advantage for staying current with emerging science.

  • Editorial Development

Experienced reviewers may be invited to join the JBRES Editorial Board as Associate Editors or Section Editors.

Our Review Process

JBRES operates a double-blind peer review model — neither authors nor reviewers know each other's identity. When a manuscript is matched to your expertise, you will receive:

  1. An email invitation with the manuscript title and abstract
  2. 3 days to accept or decline the invitation
  3. On acceptance, full access to the manuscript (author details concealed)
  4. 14 days to complete and submit your structured review

See our full Peer Review Process and Reviewer Guidelines for detailed expectations.
