Corrections & Retractions
JBRES policy for issuing corrections, expressions of concern, and retractions.
Our Commitment to the Scientific Record
JBRES is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the published scientific literature. When errors are identified in published articles, we act promptly and transparently to correct or retract the work as appropriate.
Corrections (Errata)
An erratum or correction is published when an error in a published article does not substantially affect the scientific conclusions. This includes minor errors in text, figures, or data that do not change the overall findings. Corrections are published as separate notices linked to the original article.
Expressions of Concern
An expression of concern is published when an investigation into suspected misconduct or significant error is ongoing. It signals to readers that the reliability of the article may be in question while the matter is under investigation. The expression of concern is removed once the investigation is complete, and replaced with a correction or retraction as appropriate.
Retractions
An article is retracted when:
- There are clear evidence of plagiarism, data fabrication, or data falsification
- Conclusions are substantially undermined by an error in methods, analysis, or data
- The research was conducted without required ethics approval
- The article constitutes duplicate publication
Retracted articles remain on the JBRES website with a clear retraction notice. The article text and DOI are preserved to maintain the historical record. Authors and their institutions are notified prior to retraction.
Process
Corrections and retractions are handled in accordance with COPE guidelines. Requests for corrections may be submitted by authors, readers, or the editorial team to [email protected].
