Data Sharing Policy
JBRES encourages open data sharing alongside published articles.
Our Position on Open Data
JBRES strongly encourages authors to make the data underlying their published articles openly available. Shared data improves reproducibility, enables secondary analysis, and maximizes the scientific value of published research.
Requirements
- Authors should deposit raw data in a publicly accessible repository (e.g., Figshare, Zenodo, Dryad, OSF) and include the repository DOI or link in the manuscript
- All data must include sufficient metadata to be understood and reused by readers
- Code and analysis scripts should similarly be deposited and linked (GitHub + Zenodo recommended)
Data Availability Statement
All manuscripts must include a Data Availability Statement in the Methods section stating where data can be accessed, or providing a justified reason why data cannot be shared (e.g., participant privacy, third-party ownership).
Acceptable statements include:
- "All data are available at [repository URL/DOI]"
- "Data are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request"
- "Data cannot be shared due to ethical restrictions protecting participant privacy"
Data Embargoes
Where data sharing is temporarily restricted (e.g., pending patent filing or clinical trial completion), authors must explain the expected embargo period and when data will become available.
