He obtained the Extraordinary Prize upon graduation in Bachelor´s degree in Chemistry as well as three Excellence Grants awarded by the Canary Islands Government because of her excellent marks. During the last year of her degree, she was beneficiary of a Collaboration Fellowship awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Education that allowed her to carry out a research stay in the Department of Chemistry of the Université de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, les Facultés universitaires Notre- Dame de la Paix (FUNDP) in Namur, Belgium. In addition, during her degree studies she also obtained two JAE-Intro fellowships (2008 and 2010) for the initiation in research activities at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). In 2012 finished a Master`s degree in Research in Chemistry at the University of La Laguna. She carried out her PhD (2012-2017) at the same institution in the international modality obtaining the Extraordinary Prize by the University of La Laguna. During this period, she realised two stays at the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague, Czech Republic. Dr. Bárbara Socas has participated in several international, national, and regional research projects. He has published 36 articles in journals included in the Journal Citation Report, 10 chapters of books and 75 communications in regional, national, and international conferences, obtaining several awards. Likewise, she is a usual reviewer of important journals in the fields of Analytical Chemistry and Food Sciences of the prestigious editorials Elsevier, Wiley or Royal Chemical Society. She has also been member of the organising committee of two international conferences (ITP2013 and SECyTA2013) and member of the advisory committee of the regional conference XV CESQ 2019. After finishing her PhD, she worked as a researcher at the Agroalimentary Techniques Services of the General Services of Research Support at the ULL (2017-2018) using the state-of-the art of chromatography and detection techniques. From April 2018 until March 2019, she worked as temporary lecturer at the Department of Chemistry at the University of La Laguna in the area of Analytical Chemistry in the degrees of Chemistry, Environmental Sciences and pharmacy as well as the Master Degree in Chemistry. She has supervised one Final Degree project and three Final Master Degree Projects. She got a postdoctoral research position at the Green Technology Group in the Department of Analytical Chemistry of the University of Lund (Sweden) as supported by a fellow funding by Carl Trygger Foundation during 2019-2020. Since May 2020 until September, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher "Juan de la Cierva" at the Foodomics Group in the Department of Bioactivity and Food Analysis in the Institute of Food Science Research of the Spanish National Research Council. In October 2021 she joined the University of La Laguna (Tenerife, Spain) as Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry (Area of Analytical Chemistry). Currently she is combining her teaching labour with her research task as member of the Group of Chemical Analysis Applied to the Industry, Environment and Agroalimentary Products (AQAIMPA).
